Aldo’s Cucina Ristorante Italiano: A Family Friendly BYOB Restaurant Featuring Upscale Seasonal Italian Dishes

For Aldo Borreca, owner and Executive Chef of Aldo’s Cucina Ristorante Italiano in Wayne, his restaurant is more than just a place to feed people, it’s a place to watch families enjoy each other’s company and grow. Over 22 years ago, Borreca opened the doors to Aldo’s Cucina in hopes of offering Italian cuisine in an upscale, family setting. Seems counterintuitive? For Borreca, it wasn’t.

“When I opened the restaurant, I had small kids of my own,” remembers Borreca. “I wanted to offer my guests the same upscale, high quality food that they would get at a fancy restaurant, in a setting that welcomes guests of all ages, but still feels a bit fancy.”

Now, 22 years later, Borreca’s kids are grown as are the kids who once came in with their parents. But instead of moving on, they’re continuing to come into Aldo’s Cucina to celebrate those life milestones. From graduations to proposals, anniversaries, and even babies, Aldo’s Cucina has become a part of the story. As a restaurant that has witnessed generations growing up, you just know there’s a reason people keep coming back!

Aldo’s Cucina Classic Italian Dishes and Upscale Seasonal Fare

Known for cooking up classic Southern Italian fare with a lightened-up attitude, Aldo’s Cucina is home to everything from Polenta Pasticciata Con Ragu Di Carne (aka baked polenta, topped with a rich bolognaise sauce and melted mozzarella) to a Crown Napoleon featuring avocado and crab meat, as well as a classic Italian cheesecake.

With decades of experience in the kitchen, Borreca continues to share his passion for delicious food with his guests (who have also grown more passionate about what’s on their plates). As his guests evolve, so has Aldo’s Cucina. With an ever-expanding menu of dishes that have kept everyone’s expectations high and their stomachs full, it’s no wonder everyone keeps coming back again and again.

“My culinary team and I are always working out our specials,” said Borreca who spotlights a couple of seafood specials a week along with daily meat, pasta, and appetizer specials. “Sometimes I get the idea from a customer and sometimes it’s just a focus on the seasonal ingredients available. Whether it’s a whole leg of veal for Veal Osso Bucco, pumpkin for a Pumpkin Pecorino Polenta, or peaches for a Peach Berry Galette.”

In addition to a menu that boasts strong roots in pasta, Aldo’s Cucina is also home to some of the best crab cakes in the state and a juicy Filet Mignon. The kitchen is always cooking up something delicious using fresh ingredients (no canned tomatoes here) that will make ordering just a little difficult!

As an upscale family friendly restaurant, Aldo’s Cucina is also known for their on and off-premise catering. In their newly expanded semi-private dining area, guests can turn your special occasion into a truly memorable one.

Whether you’re celebrating the birth of your granddaughter, your son’s college graduation, or even your own 50th Anniversary, think of Aldo’s Cucina as the place to celebrate with delicious food. With a menu that is sure to impress everyone in your family from the classic pasta lover to the adventurous foodie, there’s something that’s guaranteed to tingle everyone’s tastebuds.

“We’re not an intimidating restaurant,” said Burraca. “In fact, we’re just the opposite. But even though we are family friendly, it’s still a place where you can find extraordinary dishes – just without the dirty looks when your kid is enjoying his spaghetti a bit too much.”
